Yorkdale in the 1960s

Yorkdale

Downsview in the late 50s and early 60s

Yorkdale is outside of Downsview proper but I make no apologies for putting these memorable photos into this page. Downsview stops at the 401 so Yorkdale is outside of its formal boundaries. I remember sitting at my desk on the second floor of Ancaster Road School and looking over the Anglican church that used to be on Regent at Ancaster to see Yorkdale far away.

You can see Laurence Heights Junior High School in this picture.

Let me put these pictures here. I am not sure where else to put them.

East side of Dufferin, north of Sparrow Avenue. If you walked down Sparrow from Laurence Heights Junior High School, you would come to this plaza at Dufferin.

Imperial Bank, Dufferin Street, east side, north of Sparrow Avenue. (1960) If you walked down Sparrow from Laurence Heights Junior High School, you would come to this plaza at Dufferin.

Dufferin Street, east side, north of Sparrow Avenue (1955)

Dufferin and Lawrence, Conroy Hotel, (1955)

Avon Printing -- Dufferin Street somewhere (1955). Avon Printing eventually moved to Wilson at Murray where I was familiar with it.
